Solar Power and Rain water

Solar Power at Kinondo Kwetu Hospital

The electricity supply has been a constant source of worry at Kinondo Kwetu Hospital. The frequent spikes in the electricity pose a threat to the equipment. The electricity costs have risen considerably and are expected to do so in the future.

To this end, we have settled a financing agreement to ensure the supply of solar power, a welcome and sustainable solution that will bring down the hospital’s energy cost and will save its vital equipment from damage.

Tanks for rain water have recently been installed. This water serves the hospital better than the tap water that contains salt

So far, the solar cells will supply electricity only during day time. For the night, the hospital still must rely on its generator or the national electricity company. The plan is to invest in a battery at a later stage.
